The People’s Court of Shanghai’s Pudong Development Zone has sentenced a former senior executive with Bank of Communications to 6 years jail for receiving nearly 7 million yuan in bribes.

According to the court decision Song Feng, an administrative cadre with the party committee of BComm’s head office, accepted bribes from companies on a total of 9 occasions, whose cumulative amount was approximately 6.92 million yuan.

Given his voluntary confession, verified testimony, cooperation with investigators and willingness to inform on other parties to the bribes, the court decision said that Song deserved leniency in sentencing, issuing a prison term of six years and a fine of 300,000 yuan.

57 year-old Song is a native of Shanghai’s Changning district, and during the period from August 2008 to July 2015 served with BComm as the head of the public relations office, a senior public relations manager with the corporate culture department and a senior brand management department.

The investigation into Song discovered that from the period of 2004 to 2013 he used his professional position to accept kickbacks from a total of eight different media and advertising companies.
