ICBC Becomes First Chinese Bank to Issue Pound-denominated Bonds in London

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) has become the first Chinese-invested bank to issue bonds denominated in the British pound via London.

ICBC (London) issued 600 million pounds in bonds via the London Stock Exchange on 16 September, marking the first occasion that a Chinese bank has made an issue sterling-denominated bonds according to a report from Xinhua.

Han Ruixiang (韩瑞祥), general manager of ICBC (London), said that the move served as a concrete measure for raising Sino-UK cooperation in the financial sphere.
