Just over 60% of Beijing’s large-scale industrial enterprises have resumed operation as the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak continue.
Official data indicates that only 1887 of 3018 industrial enterprises above designated size in Beijing had resumed operation as of 19 February, for a utilisation rate of only 61.2%.
“Enterprises above designated size” (规模以上企业) is a statistical term used in the People’s Republic of China to refer to industrial enterprises with annual main business revenue of 20 million yuan or more.
According to the Beijing municipal government industrial enterprises above designated size in the Chinese capital employ a total of 683,000 workers.
326,000 of these employees have returned to work, for a worker utilisation rate of 47.8%.
