Beijing has flagged an expansion of the list of areas for which foreign investment is encouraged.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on 11 March that it would work with relevant departments on amendments to the “Encouraged Foreign Investment Industry Catalogue” (鼓励外商投资产业目录).

The amendments will focus on “further expanding the scope of encouraged foreign investment,” as well as “expediting the high-quality growth of the manufacturing sector,” and “employing the potential for the central-west and north-eastern regions to accept industry transfer.”

NDRC also called for actively supporting foreign-invested projects and the resumption of work and production by foreign-invested enterprises, as well as “including major qualified foreign invested manufacturing and hi-tech services projects in the specialist team adjustment scope on schedule.”
