Shanghai hopes to improve the efficacy of the city’s public healthcare sector via the application of cutting-edge technologies.
The Shanghai municipal government recently issued the “Several Opinions Concerning Improving Major Disease-Prevention Mechanisms and the Public Health Emergency Response Management System” (中共上海市委、上海市人民政府关于完善重大疫情防控体制机制健全公共卫生应急管理体系的若干意见) via its offical website.
The Opinions call for “accelerating the application of technologies including 5G and the blockchain to public health,” as well as “strengthening the integration of multiple data sources, driving the healthy application of big data to public health, improving disease prevention information systems functions, and supporting the collection and application of survey data on infectious diseases.”
They also call for the accelerated establishment of “smart health monitoring” platforms, including platforms for the tracking of vaccines and pharmaceuticals and online healthcare management platforms.
