Chinese Central Bank to Establish National Big Data Centre for Financial Sector

The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said it will launch a new database for the financial sector using big data technology.

At a work meeting convened on 19 June, PBOC announced that in 2020 that it would engage in the “high-quality completion of statistical systems including basic financial data,” as well as the “establishment of a platform for the unified management of data collection, data storage and data analysis.”

According to PBOC the new “National Basic Financial Database” (国家金融基础数据库) will “satisfy the development direction of big data.”
