Shanghai, Beijing and Zhejiang Province Top China’s New Per Capita Income List

China’s National Bureau of Statistics has released new data on per capita disposable income by province.

The latest data on the per capita disposable income for 31 of China’s provincial administrative units indicates that Shanghai, Beijing and Zhejiang province are the three wealthiest regions in the country, with the figure for Shanghai coming in at 58,987.96 yuan (approx. USD$9308.15).

According to NBS data China’s per capita deposable income was 25,974 yuan in 2017, for a nominal year-on-year increase of 9.0%, and an inflation-adjusted rise of 7.3%, as compared to real GDP growth of 6.9% across the same time period.

“Disposable income” as used by the  NBS refers to the total amount sum of money that Chinese citizens use for final consumption expenditures and savings, and can includes salaries, business earnings, asset revenues and transfers.
