Revenues of China’s Software Sector for January-April Rise by over 14%

The latest official data points to a robust year-on-year rise in the revenues of China’s software sector for the first four months of 2018.

According to figures from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China’s software sector posted revenues of nearly 1.82 trillion yuan for the January-April period, for a year-on-year increase of 14.3%, and an acceleration of 1.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

March and April both saw YoY revenue growth of 15.1%, 1.8 percentage points ahead of the average for the January-February period.

The total profits of China’s software sector for January-April were 219.6 billion yuan, for YoY growth of 11.4%, and an acceleration of 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year. as well as 1.1 percentage points compared to January-March.

China’s software sector exports were worth USD$16.5 billion, for YoY growth of 3.8%, and an acceleration of 4.8 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

Outsourced service exports grew 4.4%, while embedded system software exports grew 2.8%.

A senior official from MIIIT said that strong growth in industrial software and information security software had driven stable growth in the revenues of software products.

For the January-April period, the sector saw software product revenues of 544.7 billion yuan, for YoY growth of 13.3%, while industrial software products saw revenues rise by 12.6%, and information security products saw growth of 15.3%.
