China’s much-vaunted Belt and Road Initiative is expected to produce a bonanza of business opportunities for the country’s airlines.
The Civil Aviation Administration of China told state media that it expects Chinese airlines to provide 102 million individual passenger trips on Belt and Road-related routes over the next five years.
As of the end of 2017 the Chinese airline industry provided 550 million individual passenger trips, for a 239-fold increase compared to 1978.
