WeBank Teams up with Shenzhen University to Establish New Fintech Academy

Shenzhen University has teamed up with Tencent-backed digital lender WeBank to launch a new fintech academy.

The new Shenzhen University-WeBank Fintech Academy (深圳大学微众银行金融科技学院) was launched on 30 October with the goal of “exploring innovative models for academic-enterprise cooperation.”

The academy already has 15 faculty members, including professors, vice-professors and assistant professors, and has completed recruitment of its first round of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students.

Li Qingquan (李清泉), chancellor of Shenzhen University, said that the new academy served as a positive embodiment of Shenzhen University’s efforts to maintain pace with the growth of the city, and is in consonance with the development plans for the Greater Bay Area.

WeBank chair Gu Min (顾敏) said that the new fintech academy launched with Shenzhen University would drive corporate research and development, and achieve the goal of in-depth industry and academic integration.
