China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) plans to launch a slew of new information consumer demonstration projects in 2020.
MIIT recently issued the “Notice Concerning Organising and Undertaking 2020 New Information Consumption Demonstration Project Application Work” (关于组织开展2020年新型信息消费示范项目申报工作的通知), which seeks to recruit applicants for a range of demonstration projects for new technologies.
According to the Notice MIIT plans to select a batch of “new information consumption demonstration projects” which have strong development prospects, with an especial focus on technologies including 5G, artificial intelligence and the blockchain.
The five areas for the projects will include:
- Lifestyle information consumption,
- Public service information consumption,
- Industry information consumption
- New information product consumption,
- Information consumption support platforms.
MIIT will provide greater policy support to these projects, as well as provide support for obtaining funds, encouraging local authorities to allocate supporting funds, and guide and drive public investment funds.
