The Chinese central bank’s digital currency research vehicle has launched a fresh recruitment campaign following the launch of internal testing of China’s central bank digital currency (CBDC).
An advertisement on the website of the People’s Bank of China’s (PBOC) Digital Currency Research Institute calls for staff who will “participate in statutory digital currency research and development,” while further adding that “every line of code and every proposal of yours could influence history.”
The Institute is currently looking for “blockchain engineers and internet security experts” who are “technological studs and wizards” (技术大牛/大神) and “want to prove themselves using code.”
According to the recruitment specs candidates will enjoy “market competitive remuneration and welfare” that is in line with “leading online enterprises.”

PBOC recently revealed that it had launched internal testing of its CBDC – which it also refers to as a Digital Currency/ Electronic Payments system (DC/EP).
The testing is being conducted in multiple cities around China including Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chengdu and Xiong’an.
