A survey of residential property satisfaction levels in over 200 Chinese cities has found that first-tier urban centres perform less impressively than their smaller peers.
The “2020 Urban Resident Residential Satisfaction Survey Report” (2020中国城市居民居住满意度调查报告) released by the China Index Academy on 3 June looked at the levels of satisfaction for a range of areas including sales services, after-contract services, payments services, building quality, public space quality and property management services.
The survey covered 206 Chinese cities in 31 provinces, as well as over 300 enterprises and 78 of China’s top one hundred real estate concerns.
The survey found that there is not a strong correlation between property prices or the size of a city and its overall satisfaction levels, with first-tier cities scoring less than “1.5 tier cities” as well as many second-tier cities.
The scores for 1.5 tier cities were all above 76, while amongst first-tier cities only the Guangdong province capital of Guangzhou scored 76.
Second tier cities all racked up reasonable scores, with Wuxi, Dalian, Shenyang, Ningbo and Xi’an all posting at least 78 points.
