Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei and joint-stock lender China Merchants Bank (CMB) have launched a new facility for data innovations.

On 18 June Huawei and CMB participated in the sign-unveiling ceremony for their “Next Generation Database Joint Innovation Laboratory” (新一代数据仓库联合创新实验室).

According to Huawei the goal of the new laboratory is to “jointly create a corporate database platform that will be a technological leader over the next ten years, and establish a new benchmark for fintech.”

Huawei’s GaussDB Cloud Database commenced operation in 2011, and currently serves large-scale customers in over 500 industries around the world, in sectors including finance, government and telecoms.
