TikTok-owner ByteDance has made adjustments to key executives at the helm of its leading social media and news content platforms.

ByteDance has removed Zhu Wenjia (朱文佳) from the position of CEO of news sharing platform Toutiao, and appointed him as a senior executive responsible for tech R&D at TikTok’s Singapore offices, according to sources speaking to 3Gkr.

Chen Xi (陈熙), a senior executive with Douyin Volcano, is expected to replace Zhu as head of Toutiao. Chen joined ByteDance last year, after leaving a position as senior executive with Didi.

Sources also said that a large number of TikTok personnel have been transferred to Douyin as part of a broader internal staff reshuffle.

Vanessa Pappas, formerly the Global head of Creative Insights at youtube, remains the interim head of TikTok globally.
