NASDAQ-listed Chinese fintech platform 360 DigiTech has committed to achieving carbon mitigation targets set by Beijing in 2020, as well as using fintech to drive the growth of green finance.

360 DigiTech released its “2021 Carbon Neutrality Plan” (2021碳中和计划) earlier this month, committing to achieving peak carbon by 2030, and net zero carbon emissions before 2060.

The goals correspond to targets set by the Chinese central government in 2020, of achieving peak carbon in 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.

360 DigiTech said that it has created green office facilities in six cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Hefei and Xi’an, which include paper-free procedures and environmentally friendly catering measures.

“As a responsible company, we are concerned with the organic integration of the company’s development with societal interests,” said 360 DigiTech CEO Wu Haisheng.

“We bear the responsibility and the duty of using fintech and helping green finance to enter the fast lane while on the path of achieving carbon neutrality targets.

“We will continue to employ the advantages of fintech, derive assistance from big data and artificial intelligence, establish deep roots in these spheres of green lending and green consumption, and by means of influencing our consumers achieve ‘spillover carbon neutrality effects’ to expedite sustainable development.”
