The blockchain sector in China continued to post robust growth in 2020 despite the turmoil created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020 China’s blockchain sector posted 33.7% growth to hit 2.78 billion yuan (approx. USD$430 million), according to data from CCID Consulting’s “2020 – 2021 China Blockchain Sector Growth Research Annual Report” (2020-2021年中国区块链产业发展研究年度报告).
The report points out that growth in the global blockchain sector slowed in 2021, hitting USD$2.81 billion in total. Comparatively rapid growth in China’s blockchain sector saw its share of the global total reach approximately 15%.
