Chinese companies have figured prominently in a new list of the world’s leading fintech companies in terms of patent quality.
Ping An Group’s OneConnect ranked first in the list of the World’s Top Ten Fintech Companies in 2021 in Patent Quality that was recently released by Chinese think tank 01Caijing Research Institute.
Payments giant Ant Group came in second place, followed by Alibaba in third.
As of the end of September OneConnect had filed 5,229 patent applications globally, including 3,929 in China and 1,300 in other countries and regions.
35.89% of these filings cover banking technology, 25.12% asset management technology and 12.71% insurance technology.
