China’s Financial Sector Assets Rise 8.2% YoY at End of Q3 to Hit 375.7 Trillion Yuan

The total assets of Chinese financial sector institutions stood at 375.68 trillion yuan as of the end of the third quarter of 2021, for an increase of 8.2% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest preliminary data from the People’s Bank of China (PBOC).

Total assets of banking sector financial institutions stood at 339.36 trillion yuan, for a YoY rise of 7.7%; the total assets of securities sector institutions stood at 11.99 trillion yuan, for a YoY rise of 23.8%, while the total assets of insurance sector institutions were 24.32 trillion, for a YoY rise of 8.4%.

The liabilities of financial sector institutions in China stood at 341.3 trillion yuan as of the end of the third quarter, for a YoY rise of 8%.

Liabilities of bankings sector financial institutions were 310.7 trillion yuan, for a YoY rise of 7.5%, for securities sector institutions liabilities totalled 9.14 trillion yuan, for a YoY rise of 27.8%, while for insurance sector institutions they were 21.46 trillion yuan, for a YoY rise of 8%.
