The latest official data indicates that the number of digital renminbi wallets opened for both individuals in businesses saw a sharp surge after the start of the second half of last year.
As of 22 October 2021 China had seen the opening of around 140 million personal digital renminbi wallets, as compared to just 20.87 million as of the end of the second half.
Enterprise digital renminbi wallets stood at 10 million as of October last year, as compared to around 3.51 million at the end of the second half.
These wallets have collectively processed around 150 billion transactions, with a total value of nearly 62 billion yuan.
