One of China’s big state-owned banks has just convened a study conference on the history of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), amidst efforts to increase the influence of the party throughout the corporate sector.

Bank of China (BOC) announced on 14 January that it had recently convened a “party history study and education summary conference,” for the purpose of “transmitting the key instructive spirit of President Xi Jinping concerning the study and education of party history.”

BOC said that over the past year party organisations throughout the bank had “earnestly and thoroughly implemented the decisions and outlines of the party central committee and President Xi Jinping’s key instructive spirit.”

“Study and education of party history is a long-term mission,” said Liu Liange (刘连舸), BOC’s chair and party committee secretary.
