Digital Renminbi App Downloads Exceed 12 Million Since Making Debut on Major Platforms

Downloads of a trial digital renminbi app have surged well past the 12 million threshold since it mades its debut on major sales platforms in China at the start of the year.

A trial version of the digital renminbi app has seen surging downloads since first becoming available via leading online vendors on 4 January, according to a report from Cailianshe.

As of 17 January Huawei’s app store reported the download and installation of the digital renminbi app on 9.14 million occasions, while Xiaomi’s app store has seen over 3.6 million downloads, for a total of 12.74 million downloads.

The app is also available via other vendors in China that have yet to release public data on sales volumes, including Apple’s App Store, where it has garnered a rating of 4.5 stars.
