Foreign Investment in China’s Capital Market Posts 34% Per Annum Growth Since 2018: SAFE

Official data from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) highlights a surge in foreign investment in Chinese stocks and bonds since 2018.

During the four-year period from 2018 to 2021 the cumulative net increase in foreign holdings of domestic Chinese stocks and bonds was USD$700 billion, for annual growth of 34%, according to data released by SAFE at a press conference held on 21 January.

“In future, following continued opening of Chinese finance, foreign capital will enjoy even more participation in the Chinese financial market,” said a SAFE official.
