Chinese Bond Issuance in February Exceeds 4.4 Trillion Yuan

The issuance of bonds on the Chinese market surpassed the 4.4 trillion yuan threshold in the month of February.

February saw the issuance of a total of 4.43077 trillion yuan in bonds of all types on the Chinese market, according to figures released by the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) on 23 March.

This included 480 billion yuan in treasury bonds, 507.1 billion yuan in local government bonds, 724.05 billion yuan in financial bonds, 751.84 billion yuan in company credit bonds, 4.5 billion yuan in asset-backed securities and 1.93661 trillion yuan in interbank certificates of deposit.

As of the end of February China bond market custody balance was 136.3 trillion yuan. This included a treasury bond custody balance of 22.4 trillion yuan, a local government bond custody balance of 31.3 trillion yuan, a financial bond custody balance of 31.9 trillion yuan and a company credit bond custody balance of 31.6 trillion yuan.

The asset-backed security custody balance was 2.6 trillion yuan, and the interbank certificates of deposit custody balance was 14.5 trillion yuan.
