Bank of Gansu Appoints China Construction Bank Exec as New President

Regional lender Bank of Gansu has appointed a senior executive from big state-owned bank China Construction Bank (CCB) as its new president.

On 18 May the Gansu province government issued a Notice announcing the appointment of Wang Xizhen (王锡真) to the positions of president and director of the Bank of Gansu.

Wang formerly served as the party secretary for the Gansu-province branch of CCB and president of the Xigu branch of CCB in the provincial capital of Lanzhou.

According to publicly available information Wang was born in 1974 and is an MBA holder.

Wang Wenyong (王文永), Wang Xizhen’s predecessor in the role, is also a former CCB executive. In December Wang Wenyong was appointed to the role of director of the Gansu Province Rural Credit Society Union (甘肃省农村信用社联合社).

As of the end of 2021 Bank of Gansu’s total assets were 358.505 billion yuan, for an increase that year of 16.141 billion yuan, or 4.71%.

Total deposits were 255.988 billion yuan, while total customer loans and advances were 198.595 billion yuan.

In 2021 Bank of Gansu’s operating revenues were 6.278 billion yuan, for a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 3.31%. Net profits were 573 million yuan, for a YoY rise of 1.9%.

The bank’s non-performing loan ratio stood at 2.04% as of the end of 2021, for a decline of 0.24 percentage points compared to the end of 2020.
