One of China’s big three policy banks has grabbed approval from the banking regulator for the appointment of a former senior executive from China Everbright Bank and Bank of China as its new chairman.

On 10 June the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC) gave its approval for Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank) to appoint Wu Fulin (吴富林) as chairman.

The move comes after Exim Bank appointed Wu as its party secretary in April of this year, following the retirement of Hu Xiaolian (胡晓炼).

Wu is a graduate of Fudan University, and has previously held senior roles with China Everbright Bank, Everbright Group and Bank of China.

In April 2020 Wu was appointed to the positions of deputy party-secretary, deputy-chair and president of Exim Bank.
