The Chinese central government has flagged a push for the country’s state-owned enterprises (SOE’s) to intensify their digital technology research and development efforts.
Weng Jieming (翁杰明), deputy-chair of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), said that the Commission would “guide central SOE’s to strengthen the innovative application of digital technology and strengthen efforts in terms of key digital technologies”.
Weng made the remarks at the 5th Digital China Development Summit (第五届数字中国建设峰会).
The SASAC deputy chair also called for central SOE’s to “focus on core electronic components, high-end chips, basic software and key industrial software; accelerate breakthroughs in key and core technologies, and create independently controllable, secure and stable industry chains and supply chains.”
