Chinese Investors Make 346.8B Yuan in Outbound Foreign Investments in First Half of 2019

Official data indicates that Chinese outbound foreign investment edged slightly higher in the first half of 2019.

Figures released by the Ministry of Commerce on 16 July indicate that during the period from January to June domestic investors in China made non-financial direct investment in 3582 overseas enterprises situated in 151 countries and regions around the world.

The total value of this investment was 346.8 billion yuan, for a YoY increase of 0.1%.

The pace of investment accelerated towards the end of the first half, with outbound direct investment in June alone standing at 63.73 billion yuan, for a YoY rise of 6.3%.

From January to June Chinese enterprises invested USD$6.8 billion in 51 Belt and Road nations, accounting for 12.6% of the total for the period.
