The Guangdong province capital of Guangzhou is turning to range of fintech-related technologies to improve regulation of food hygiene.
Guangzhou’s market regulatory authority told Xinkuai Bao on 24 March that its Guangzhou Municipal Edible Agricultural Product Tracking Platform (广州市食用农产品溯源平台) will be the first in China to make use of blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing technologies.
The Platform will mark the launch of a “smart regulatory model” which will permit the strict control of sources and strict management of end consumption.
Guangzhou’s current food product tracking platform already covers 90 markets and 8018 businesses, while the volume of tracking certificates it’s issued for agricultural products has reached 4.657 million.
