Chinese companies account for the majority of the top ten entries on the Hurun Report’s latest list of private unicorn firms valued at over USD$1 billion.
The “2020 Hurun Global Unicorn List” (2020胡润全球独角兽榜) released by the Shanghai-based Hurun Report on 4 August listed total of 586 unicorns, for a net increase of 92 firms following the addition of 142 new entrants and the withdrawal of 50.
Of the 50 companies removed from the list, 19 were publicly listed, 11 were acquired by other companies, and 20 were dropped due to diminutions in value.
