Local authorities in Sichuan have just announced the latest round of trial projects for the province’s fintech regulatory sandbox.

The Chengdu branch of the Chinese central bank said on 29 January that the third round of projects will consist of two innovation applications that “focus on the use of big data, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things,” in order to drive financial inclusion for small businesses and low carbon economics.

The first project is a “rural village passenger transport credit service based on big data technology,” developed by the Sichuan province branch of the Postal Savings Bank of China in collaboration with the local railway authorities.

The second project is for “green loan service based on big data technology,” under development by Sichuan Tianfu Bank Co., Ltd.
