Total Assets of Chinese Financial Institutions Grow over 10% to Exceed 413 Trillion Yuan

The combined assets of financial institutions in China posted double-digit growth in the year through Q3 2022, according to the latest data from the Chinese central bank.

As of the end of the third quarter the total assets of China’s financial sector stood at 413.46 trillion yuan, for year-on-year (YoY) growth of 10.1%.

Banking sector assets totalled 373.88 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 10.2%, while the total assets of securities sector institutions stood at 12.87 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 7.3%.

Total assets of the Chinese insurance sector were 26.71 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 9.8%.

Total liabilities of Chinese financial institutions were 376.61 trillion yuan for YoY growth of 10.3%. This included banking sector liabilities of 342.94 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 10.4%; securities sector liabilities of 9.68 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 6%, and insurance sector liabilities of 23.8 trillion yuan, for YoY growth of 11.7%.
