Online Payments Users in China Reach 633 Million, Account for 74.1% of All Netizens

A new report indicate that almost three quarters of Chinese internet users make use of online payments.

The 44th China Online Development Status Statistical Report (中国互联网络发展状况统计报告) released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) on 30 August indicates that as of the end of June 2019 China’s online payments users totalled 633 million, accounting for 74.1% of all Chinese netizens.

Mobile online payments users totalled 621 million for an increase of 37.88 million compared to 2018, and accounting for 73.4% of all mobile internet users as well as 98.13% of all online payments users.

As of the end of June 2019 China was host to 854 million internet users, including 847 million mobile internet users.
