Chinese payments giant UnionPay has launched a new digital bank card which is integrated with its QuickPass app.
On 31 August UnionPay held a ceremony in Beijing for the initial release of the “UnionPay Boundless Card” (银联无界卡) – a financial product developed in collaboration with Chinese commercial banks, mobile phone companies, payments organisations and key cooperating vendors.
The Boundless Card comes in two versions – a debit card and a credit card, both of which can make use of platforms such as the UnionPay’s QuickPass app to provide a greater range of digital financial services.
Customers can use the QuickPass app, commercial banking apps or mobile phone wallets to apply for the Boundless Card, while the card itself can be used for both QR code and QuickPass payments.
The card also makes use of the Token 2.0 digital payments system to facilitate usage for e-commerce, public transport and mobile wallet purposes.
