The south-western province of Yunnan has turned to telecommunications giant Huawei to help advance its digitisation ambitions.
On 16 March the Yunnan province government executed a strategic cooperative agreement with Huawei, with the goal of “accelerating the cultivation of new digital economic growth in Yunnan” and “jointly driving the creation of a ‘Digital Yunnan.'”
Under the agreement both the Yunnan province government and Huawei will work with local enterprises in the machine vision sector as well as jointly drive the creation of the “Kunpeng Innovation Centre” (鲲鹏创新中心).
Huawei will also work with Yunnan province on the development of its “5G+ Industrial Internet of Things” and efforts to expedite the growth of the regional IT sector.
