The latest official data points to a significant uptick in China’s nationwide urban employment levels during the first quarter.
Figures released by China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security indicate that the number of urban employed rose by 3.3 million during the first three months of 2018.
The unemployment rate posted a year-on-year decline, with registered unemployment of 3.89% for the first quarter, for a decline of 0.08 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
Manufacturing sector employee demand saw a 5.2% year-on-year increase, 0.7 percentage points ahead of overall employee demand.
